What email address is used to send emails?
What email address is used as the FROM address?
This depends on several factors:
Send Via Mailboxes
If you have requested to Send using Users' Mailboxes, the following rules are applied:
If there is a Mailbox for the message Sender:
- If the Sender's "Send As Email" is specified, we will use this email;
- Otherwise we will use the email address of the connected Mailbox.
What if there is no Mailbox available?
If the Sender does not have a Mailbox connected OR the connected mailbox is not syncing correctly, we will check your setting for If no mailbox is available, send using Akita servers?
If you have enabled this setting we will deliver the mail using Akita's Mail Servers. We will disregard the Account's "Send As Email" (if set) and deliver the message from the Sender as if a Mailbox WAS connected correctly. The following rules are applied:
- If the Sender's "Send As Email" is specified, we will use this email;
- If there is a Mailbox connected but not syncing we will use the email address of the connected Mailbox;
- Otherwise we will use the email address that the Sender uses to login to Akita with.
An error will be logged in the Message logs if:
- Send via Mailboxes is enabled; and
- If no mailbox is available, send using Akita servers? is disabled; and
- there is no actively syncing Mailbox to use.
Send Via Akita Mail Servers
If you have not selected Send using Users' Mailboxes the following rules are applied:
- If the Account's "Send As Email" is specified, we will use this email; otherwise
- If the Sender's "Send As Email" is specified, we will use this email; otherwise
- We will use the email address that the Sender uses to login to Akita with.
